Within the Subject Matter Research Lab, an on-going clinical trial is investigating the effectiveness and implementation of Sudarshan Kriya Yoga (SKY), a breathing-based meditation intervention for Canadian Veterans living with PTSD. To support the development of a community of practice and learning around the SKY-PTSD research study, we are hosting monthly webinars. This provides an opportunity for people to learn more about Veterans health with peers and experts in the field. To read more about the specific topics and dates, see the Schedule section below.

This webinar will explore the existing evidence of Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAMs) for improving the mental health of Veterans. Dr. Abhimanyu Sud, Research Chair in Primary Care and Population Health Systems at Humber River Health, and the Chief Scientific Officer at the Chronic Pain Centre of Excellence for Canadian Veterans, and his team conducted a rapid review of CAM interventions, funded by the Atlas Institute for Veterans and Families. Findings from this rapid review will be presented including which CAMs have the best evidence for efficacy for Veterans.
This webinar explores the ENHANCE+ project, which aims to mobilise professional’s knowledge on the needs and experiences of women veterans and increase clinical capacity through the provision of Cognitive Processing Therapy training. The ENHANCE+ project will be presented by Danielle Dryden, MSc and Gavin Campbell, MSc, researchers at Combat Stress UK, a veteran’s mental health charity, in London, England. Danielle and Gavin have co-created workshops for providers to address the unique needs of women veterans, particularly with military sexual trauma, which are currently being offered to providers internationally.
